How to play Bridges
Bridges is an islands logic puzzle. Connect the islands with straight bridges until every number is met and all islands join into one group.
Worked example
Use Next to follow each deduction from the starting clues to the finished board.
An island's number is the total number of bridges touching it. A double bridge counts twice. Bridges never cross, and all islands must join into one group.
1 / 4
- An island's number is the total number of bridges touching it. A double bridge counts twice. Bridges never cross, and all islands must join into one group.
- The 1 at the top left has only one neighbor. Draw that single bridge first.
- The 1 at the top right is the same. Draw its single bridge too.
- The center 4 now has two bridges and needs two more. The lower 2 can connect only to it, so their link must be double. Every island now meets its number.
Bridge rules
- Bridges run horizontally or vertically between two visible islands.
- Two islands may have one bridge, two parallel bridges, or no bridge. A double bridge counts twice toward each island.
- Bridges cannot cross another bridge.
- Bridges cannot pass through an island.
- All islands must join into one group.
Common mistake
Matching every island number is not enough. Do not close one group while another group has no open path left to reach it.
