How to play Fences
Fences is a loop logic puzzle about edges. Draw one continuous closed line on the grid edges while matching every visible number.

Each number counts the loop edges around its square. At a grid point, the loop uses either zero or two edges. All lines must join one loop.

- A 0 uses none of its four edges. Mark every edge around the four 0s as empty.
- Now follow the 2-clues around the top half. Their counts, together with the rule that a line cannot end at a grid point, force the shown segments.
- Repeat that check on the bottom half. The segments join into one loop, and every 2 has exactly two loop edges around its square.
What the numbers mean
- The lines form one closed loop. At any grid point, the loop uses either zero or two edges, so it cannot branch or end.
- A number tells you how many of that square's four edges belong in the loop. Not more, and not fewer.
- A 0 means none of the four surrounding edges are used.
- A 3 means exactly three surrounding edges are used.
- Blank squares give no direct count, but their edges still have to fit the final loop.
Common mistake
Matching every number is not enough if the line splits into smaller loops. Keep one loop, with two lines at every corner it visits.
